Insurance matters

The participants shall have adequate insurance coverage. Participants should be clearly informed in advance about issues related to health insurance, general liability insurance coverage for third party and personal accident coverage in the host country.

For this type of mobility, health insurance coverage, is mandatory by the European Commission:

Basic health insurance coverage is provided by the national health insurance of the participant during his/her stay in another country. However, the coverage of the basic health insurance or private insurance may not be sufficient, especially in case of repatriation and specific medical intervention. In that case, a complementary private insurance might be useful. It is the responsibility of the institutions to ensure that the participant is aware of health insurance issues.

Participants themselves are responsible for the insurance costs from the grant received for the realization of the mobility activity.

The NKUA is responsible to check that the Participant has the mandatory health insurance. A photocopy of the insurance contract, issued in ENGLISH, must be sent to the European and International Relations Department of NKUA one month prior to the mobility period together with all other necessary documents.
