Procedure for incoming students

Students from partner institutions wishing to study at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens should contact the International Relations Office of their institution in order to be informed about their internal selection procedure.

After the selection, partner institutions send their nominations to the NKUA European and International Relations Department’s email address erasmus[at]uoa[dot]gr. Following that, selected students must read carefully all information posted on this website and submit all necessary documents on time.

Student nominations are accepted only for the spring semester of the academic year 2018-2019. It is not possible for student mobilities to take place during the winter semester due to late budget approval and grant transfer.

Nomination deadline for student mobility for spring semester: November 30th

Application deadline for student mobility for spring semester: December 30th

Necessary documents to be sent by nominated students to the European and International Relations Department’s email address erasmus[at]uoa[dot]gr

Two months prior to the mobility period

  1. Application form (instructions for the application)
  2. Learning Agreement for Studies signed by all parties
  3. Curriculum Vitae
  4. Photocopy of a valid passport

One month before the mobility period

  1. Photocopy of the insurance contract covering basic (national) health care insurance, issued or translated in ENGLISH (INSURANCE MATTERS).
  2. Photocopy of visa (if needed)
  3. Photocopy of receipt of ticket or e-ticket payment with all ticket details
  4. Official document with the following information: Full name, father’s and mother’s first name, permanent address at home country, officially translated in ENGLISH. The document is mandatory for the opening of the bank account; the original must be submitted in our office upon arrival.
  5. Official document stating the Tax identification number of the student and an official document indicating whether the student has income or not, officially translated in in ENGLISH. The document is mandatory for the opening of the bank account; the original must be submitted in our office upon arrival.

Upon arrival at NKUA (1st day)

Check-in at the European and International Relations Department of NKUA (Historical Central Building of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Propylaia, 30, Panepistimiou (El. Venizelou) street, 106 79 Athens, Greece)

  • Submit the original receipt of ticket or e-ticket payment and the arrival boarding pass
  • Start bank account opening process where the financial support should be paid.The required documents are the following:
    1. Passport
    2. The original official documents 4 and 5 mentioned in the above paragraph
    3. Copy of a Greek mobile phone connection contract, indicating  with the address of the student in Athens
    4. Certificate issued by our office stating the name of the student, the mobility period and the grant amount
  • Submit a photocopy of the first page of the bank passbook with the details of your new bank account (bank account number, bank account holder, bank name, Clearing/BIC/SWIFT number, IBAN number)
  • Sign the original Erasmus+ Grant Agreement for Studies
  • Receive the Certificate for the Admission as an Erasmus+ International Mobility Student which is necessary for the enrollment in the respective Department of NKUA and other information concerning your stay and studies.

At the beginning of the last month of the mobility period at NKUA send to the European and International Relations Department’s email address erasmus[at]uoa[dot]gr

  • A copy of the final version of the Learning Agreement including any changes you made
  • A photocopy of receipt of ticket or e-ticket payment with all ticket details
  • You will receive from the European Commission an automatic email (please check the folder of junk/spam of your email inbox too) with a link to complete and submit the online EU Survey. Participants who fail to complete and submit the online EU Survey may be required to partially or fully reimburse the financial support received.

At the last week of your mobility period at NKUA

Check out at the European and International Relations Department of the NKUA

  • Get a Certificate of Arrival and Departure

After your departure

Send at erasmus[at]uoa[dot]gr

  1. your departure boarding pass
  2. a short report of your activities during your stay in Athens accompanied by a short photo gallery.
  3. You will receive by our office the Transcript of Records.
