SELECTION OF COURSES

Exchange students are being accepted only from partner Universities with which there are signed bilateral agreements in specific subject areas. This information can be obtained by contacting the International Relations/Erasmus Office of theHomeUniversity.

In order to plan their study programme Erasmus students should be informed by the website of the relevant Faculty of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UoA) (http://en.uoa.gr/schools-and-departments.html) about the offered courses and their ECTS credits. Then, students should contact their home University coordinator and ask for the approval of the courses they have selected.

Following the courses selection, students should fill in their Learning Agreement for Studies that will be obtained by the Erasmus Office of their Home Institution and then have it signed by the Departmental Coordinator of their Home University.  The Learning Agreement should be sent to the European and International Relations Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens together with the student’s Application Form.

Courses at the University of Athens are normally taught in Greek language. However, there are also courses in other languages, especially at the Foreign Language Faculties and the Faculty of Law which offers specialized programmes in English, French, German and Italian. Also the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies offers some courses in English.  A few postgraduate courses are also taught in other languages (mainly in English). In all other Faculties there are special arrangements for Erasmus+ students. The most common one is the assignment of essays in English with the use of English bibliography.

As not all incoming students are fluent in Greek at the beginning of their study, the University of Athens requires good knowledge (Level B2) of the English language to allow students to communicate and function within an academic context.
