DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC RELATIONS, ETIQUETTE AND CULTURAL EVENTS

The mission of the Department of Public Relations, Protocol and Cultural Events is to coordinate, demonstrate and promote the internal and external communication activities of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, as well as the University’s relationships with government and local policy-makers and stakeholders.

In order to succeed to its mission, the Department hosts a great number of events, covering a wide range of academic efforts put forward by academic staff, researchers and students. Such events include, among others, awards of Excellence and Prizes to distinguished scientists and students awards of Honour PhD titles, jubilees and anniversaries, social, cultural and other events and celebrations (music events, theatrical performances), conferences, seminars, lectures of academic interest.

The Department of Public Relations, Protocol and Cultural Events serves also as an information point for all members of the academic community on matters, which pertain, among others, to education in general, as well as a vast range of scientific and other research activities, holding of lectures, conferences, meetings, etc.

In order to promote all the aforementioned activities, events and ceremonies, the Department frequently deals with government and local authorities’ public relations offices, the press, the media, it publishes website posts as well as informative brochures (in Greek and English) for all parties that express an interest in the University’s self-portrait, its activities through time and the services offered. That is why the Department also keeps and manages a photo gallery archive of all events taking place at the Great Hall of the central, historical building of the University.

Finally, in cooperation with the other two Departments of the Directorate of Public & International Relations and History (the Department of European and International Relations and this of Museums and History Archives), the Department of Public Relations, Protocol and Cultural Events also supports:

  • Opening educational ceremonies organized in Greece and abroad, orientation days for Erasmus students, etc., giving prospective students information about the disciplines, the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the University Departments as well as any other required information.
  • Inauguration ceremonies of archeological exhibitions and museum collections hosted by the University and organized in collaboration with Greek and foreign museums.

The offices of the Department of Public Relations, Protocol and Cultural Events can be found in the historical building of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, located on Panepistemiou Avenue in the city center.
